Conditions for granting of a permanent residence permit in Lithuania
Foreigner has continuously resided in the Republic of Lithuania for 5 years and had a temporary residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania.
The following requirements also apply:
- Completing examination on Lithuanian language (national) and on basics of the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania. Persons of an age 75 or more are exempt from examination.
- Insurance – employed persons are automatically insured under social insurance and non-employed persons must acquire private health insurance as provided by insurance companies.
- Self-sufficiency – it is required to earn at least EUR 325 per month or to have an adequate amount in a personal bank account ensuring subsistence for a period of 5 years. However, regular income is highly preferred.
- Accommodation, either possessed by the property right, on the basis of lease or person’s
obligation to provide place of residence.
Documents to be submitted concerning acquisition of a permanent residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania
- Valid travel document (passport) and its copy;
- Supporting documents about the temporary residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania for 5 years in a row;
- Certificates of completion of examination on Lithuanian language and on basics of the Constitution.
- One photo (40 x 60 mm), corresponding to the actual age.
Loss of residence permit in the Republic in Lithuania
It is important to revoke the permanent residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania. Obtaining and retaining permanent residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania is not straightforward. There are several aspects that are considered while granting and revoking the permit, such as foreigner’s reputation. The person cannot be included in the list of unwanted persons of any Shengen state, has to comply with the laws of the Republic of Lithuania and public order and does not endanger security.
